Who are we?

The EMIS Team promotes the achievement of ethnic minority children in Middlesbrough. We provide help to bilingual pupils in mainstream schools who do not have sufficient command of the English Language to enable them to access the curriculum fully.
We also advise and support their parents, carers and schools as appropriate.

The Minority Inclusion and Welcome Project

We are also an umbrella organisation for The Minority Inclusion and Welcome Project which is funded by Action for Children. This service has been established since 2002. The project works with BME, Asylum Seeking and Refugee children aged 5yr -13yr old and their families. The aims of Minority Inclusion and Welcome are to promote empowerment , integration and inclusion by offering activites that inspire educational performance to all children. Minorty Inclusion and Welcome are also home to Supporting Sisters. This is a diverse self - help womens support group. We also have a childrens participation group - Superstars which helps shape our service.

Minority Inclusion and Welcome are also on hand to offer advice and information to schools and other agencies. In the past we have advised many issues from Forced Marriage Policy to Inte-racial Bullying and Myth-Busting etc. and delivered many afterschool clubs and empowerment activites. Please contact
