Achievement
Purpose of Achievement
The core purpose of Achievement is to support schools in raising standards and to promote improvement throughout Middlesbrough.
It does this through a range of different strategies with a focus upon:

Monitoring ongoing school performance and outcomes at the end of key stages and challenging schools to improve further through self-review and evaluation

Developing and monitoring both local and national school improvement initiatives, and providing programmes of support to enhance these further

Intervening, where necessary, to ensure schools whose performance gives concern are closely monitored and supported to recover and sustain improvement.
The key Service objective is that of supporting and challenging schools to raise the achievement of all pupils, including specifically targeted groups. This is done through provision and support for a range of school improvement strategies to promote effective teaching and learning. The School Improvement Service also aims to ensure that the performance of all the LA schools are working towards being good and excellent schools.
